My review of the Consequences Video

Introduction

I recently just watched a video about online predators.

The video takes you into the mind of an online predator,  how they might stalk you and where they can stalk you. You also get an insight of the victims point of view and the impact it has on the victims safety, the victims lifestyle and the embarrassment it causes.

The video shows  the action you can take in order to help prevent predators gaining access to any personal information you have online. This video was created to reveal to those in the audience that don’t know much about online predators that anything they put on the internet can easily be accessed by any stranger.

Different Features

The video has good way of getting its message across using multiple methods. Using the characters in the film to explain to the audience about the dangers of online predators. The characters bring the message to you through their body language, feelings and emotions. The characters present themselves as normal people “like me and you” living in a modernized world that we are all familiar with and understand. This is what made the video effective in my opinion because I was able to relate to what I was seeing, hearing and feeling through the video.

A familiar environment is another feature that made this video effective. Majority of people grow up in a suburban area like the victim in this video. The person living next door or standing next to you out in public is a complete stranger. You are surrounded by people going about there daily lives in a suburban jungle and people blend in well with other people, especially in a large city with millions of faces. It would be very hard to locate someone watching you, even if they standing right next to you. This video makes a perfect example of everything I just explained by placing the victim in this situation.

This video has one feature I found different from many others like it. This video starts off with a harmless looking guy that appears like your everyday average person. This person is the main character and presenter of this video. As this harmless looking character progresses further you start to realize this guy is not who he seems. He is the very person this whole video wants you to be aware of “the predator”. This is something that caught me off guard.

Conclusion

In my opinion this video is one that I found to be very effective in delivering its message. It was easy to understand and follow. It is adapted to suit the generation of today and will help people make the right choice when being confronted by an online predator.

From this video I learned that even a friendly and harmless looking person could be hiding something. To secure your online social network so that only my friends can access the information I have on my social network site. This video has taught me how to make the right choices and choose the right actions when faced with the problems it showed me.
